Travel Tip: For a truly authentic Moroccan experience (and to a great way to meet a few new local Moroccan friends) visit the Hassan II mosque at sunset. While an very impressive mosque to tour the inside of (travelers can only visit on a tour), our favorite part of the mosque is not what happens inside, but what takes place outside. Around sunset every day local families and friends gather at the mosque and along the corniche to take an evening stroll, sit and talk, read and share each others company. You get the same sense of community and connection experiencing this afternoon gathering as you would if you visited a local family in there home. There’s warm, generosity and a love for community – which will extend to you as a traveler in their country. Visit Hassan II mosque at sunset to experience Casablanca like a local.
