Day 8 of 30 Days of Travel – Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride Above the Nile River and the Valley of the Kings, Egypt
Soaring high above the mighty Nile River as the bend curves through Luxor. Watching the first rays of sunlight kiss the desert peaks that guard the entrance to the Valley of the Kings. From high above you can see how the Nile River has carved and shaped the land. A thick band of vegetation and farms on either side of this life giving river, then it’s nothing but desert for as far as the eye can see. It’s one of life’s magical moments and a unique perspective on Egypt’s landscape and ancient monuments.
Travel tip: Chose a reputable hot air balloon company. Look for companies that follow European regulations. The best flight times is before dawn as the weather is the calmest and the light is incredible for photographs. If a hot air balloon ride over the Nile Valley is a must your Egypt trip, schedule your dawn flight on your first morning in Luxor. If your flight is canceled due to wind, they will reschedule it for the next day and this will give you a few mornings to try to fly the hot air balloons. Take lots of photos and then set the camera down to take it all in and really enjoy this amazing view over the valley.
