NEW CO-ED TOUR: Egypt – Treasures of the Nile is now open for booking at a special early bird rate

I’m thrilled to share with you that our 2018 Egypt: Treasures of the Nile 12-Day co-ed Tour has opened today!

We are now accepting bookings. And we are offering a very special early bird reduced rate. This is the lowest rate that will be offered for our Egypt Tour. Our last Egypt trip filled very quickly so sign up today to secure your spot to join me on a 12 day exploration of this spectacular country. The trip will run April 7-18 (or 20th if you add on the Red Sea). For those who wish to stay a bit longer, we are offering an optional Red Sea retreat add on.

Learn more about this tour and how to book, as well as to take advantage of the current early bird rate.

Our awesome guide, Egyptologist and all-around amazing lady Reham Ali teaching us about the old Kingdom pyramids and the dudes who built them. Reham never ceases to amaze me with her knowledge, insight and passion for ancient and modern day Egypt.

For a limited time until October 23 we are offering our special early bird rate for this tour. We want to reward travelers who book early and submit their deposit, so we’re offering the best price right now until October 23rd. Then the rates will increase.

I am particularly proud of this tour. We offer many unique, one-of-a-kind experiences – a private Nile cruise, visiting Karnak at night, visiting sites before the big tour buses get there, staying at Abu Simbel, visiting small villages. Other tours to Egypt don’t offer these kinds of experiences. I have lived and worked in Egypt a couple of times as an Egyptology student, photographer and tour operator. From a decade and half of experience in the country, I’ve put together the very best trip any traveler can take. We do all the iconic experiences as well as the off the beaten path experiences. This trip will change you and change how you see Egypt.

A few other ways this trip is extra special and stands apart from other tours:

  • Explore Egypt with an expert local female guide. Economically empower these local ladies!
  • Small-group tour of only 12 travelers.
  • Enjoy wonderful Egyptian food at local, healthy, clean mom and pop restaurants.
  • Private Nile cruise in our own luxurious classic Dahabiya. Intimate, personal experience. The boat holds 12 travelers, our guide and the boat’s staff.
  • Our own Nile cruise program, stopping at villages, markets, unique temples, and skipping the lines are the famous temples such as Edfu and Kom Ombo.
  • Experience Karnak and Abu Simbel lit up at night as a small group viewing.
  • A balance of exploring the iconic ancient Egyptian sites, Islamic history and natural wonders.

While I love Morocco, Jordan, Turkey and all the other places we offer tours, Egypt holds a very special place in my heart. It’s the first country I traveled to on my own as a young university student. I’ve lived in Egypt twice and traveled within the country more times than I can count. The only place I haven’t been is Siwa and the Meroe pyramids….which are technically in the South Sudan. Inshallah I will visit those soon. My first time living in Egypt was way back in 2003, almost 15 years ago! I came to study Egyptology (the archaeology of ancient Egypt) at the American University in Cairo. I was lucky to be able to study under some of the greatest archaeologists of our time. After my studies, I left Egypt absolutely in love with the country, knowing it would be a big part of my life going forward. My next time back in Egypt was as the Arab Spring was beginning. I lived in Cairo, on Tahrir Square, during the Arab Spring – working as an editorial and commercial photographer and leading tours for a tour company. It’s been fascinating to see Egypt grow and change over many decades. A few things though have remained constant – the friendliness of the people, the Great Pyramid is still just as spectacular, the horse hagglers at the Pyramids are still the best salesman on the planet, a Nile cruise still retains its magic and mystery, and Zamalek island still has the best Egyptian food in the country.

Located on the outskirts of Cairo, where the fertile Nile valley meets the arid desert, the Giza Plateau and its pyramids are one of the most iconic images from Egypt (along with Pharaoh Tutankhamun). Built in the 4th Dynasty, the largest of these pyramids (the Great Pyramid) was built by Pharaoh Khufu, possibly as a burial site. The other two pyramids where built by Pharaoh Khafre and Pharaoh Menkaure. Not trip to Egypt is complete without marveling at these great wonders of the ancient world. Constructed with incredible procession, there colossal structures still tower high above the desert plains, even with their outer layers having been stripped many centuries ago.

I built our Egypt: Treasures of the Nile tour to provide fellow travelers with a unique tour program that authentically connects them with Egyptian and Egyptian culture. Gets us off the bus and out in Egyptian experiencing daily life. We see the great iconic ancient Egyptian sites, and then we do some unique programs such as soaring in a hot air balloon over the Nile valley at sunrise with the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple far below us. We have expert local women Egyptologists teach us about ancient Egypt – the great pharaohs, the everyday people, the amazing architectural feats, and the many women who ruled Egypt but are rarely mentioned in pop culture. We catch epic sunrises and sunsets. Walk though temples lit up at night. Dine on some of the best food in Egypt at locally run excellent restaurants. We explore the length of Egypt – from Alexandria and the Nile Delta to the north and Abu Simbel and Aswan in what was once Ancient Nubia.

This is a truly special and unique that we are offering. I’m excited to share with all of you my favorite place on the planet.

As they say in Egypt, salām and see you in Egypt!
