Behind the scenes in Dubai. Not all of Dubai is glitz and glam. This photo was taken just behind the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. The great glass city is more a scattering of skyscrapers with a few malls the size of small towns. In between and around is all desert. Walking around the city, at times it really does feel like a metropolis just sprang up straight out of the arid desert. There’s also a darker underbelly to Dubai of slave construction labor, environmental damage, and open class hierarchy. Dubai is an interesting city,  one that often brings a love it or hate it relationships for those who visit. Photo: Genevieve Hathaway Photography.
